Infolinks on WordPress Tips and Help

Infolinks is a solid in-text marketing tool you can easily apply to your WordPress site to start generating a little additional advertising revenue.  Once registered, they have developed an easy WordPress Infolinks Plugin, available for download at http://www.infolinks.com/ResourcesAndPlugins.html, or you can navigate to, and install it directly from the Dashboard -> Add New Plugin page (just search for ‘infolinks’).  Very simple integration if you follow the website guides and the plugin settings, but there are a few things that aren’t as clear, but important when integrating the tool:

change color of infolinks1.  You can customize and change the color of your infolinks text through the website’s ‘Advanced Integration Guide’.  You can also choose dotted single or solid double-underlined links as well.  You can select the maximum number of links per page, and select a category to best match advertising links to your website’s content.  All important for seamless integration and pleasant visitor reaction.

2. In some cases you may wish to exclude Infolinks text ads on certain pages or posts.  From the WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Infolinks, you can choose which posts you do not want ads placed in.  You will need to identify the post ID.  The post ID can be found by going to edit Post (or Page) and looking at the address bar.  Example:  This post ID is 2148, which is found after ‘post=’ in the URL:  http://www.inforats.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2148&action=edit&message=10.

You can add as many pages/posts you want excluded just by seperating each postID by a comma. You can also exclude the ads from your WordPress title.

Its always good to expand your portfolio and try various options. As of today though, I have deactivated and removed the infolinks plugin. Over a year’s use, low to very little payout per click and the overall in-text click throughs have been more of a distraction to visitors than the partnership is worth. This does not mean that infolinks may not work well for you or others, but for Inforats, the overall upkeep and plugin demand was not worth the pay out.

As for Google, I have been pretty satisfied with their payout structure and have always found their fraud click managmeent to be one of the best out there. As an advertiser as well, I fell it is very important to prevent such activity.
